Lucero a great sound from Memphis.

Lucero - 10/16/09 - Starlight Ballroom, Philadelphia, PA

So this one will be short and sweet. If you get a chance to see this band, do it. It’s not the typical band we seem to cover here at The Butter Room, but damn are they fun…and talented.

They’re straight up rockers from the south, and they’ve got a soulful sound all their own. A blend of good old rock ‘n roll, with a little twang thrown in. I started to listen to them 3-4 years ago because my then girlfriend (now awesome wife) was a big fan and after seeing them several times this band has solidified to me that they can bring the fire every time.

Last night’s show was proof of that. With PBR flowing like water and a crowd who was throwing it all over the place Lucero put on a show that was as sweet as you could have asked for if you know their music. A perfect blend of old favorites from past albums the addition of a horn section and their great new tunes from their latest album 1372 Overton Park, gave this show something special.

This band has it.

What Is The Butter Room?

The Butter Room was built to spread and discuss live music. The contributors of this site all volunteer their time to provide the content. We do this as a labor of love. Our name, The Butter Room, references an small, low-lit room in a Virginia Tech Fraternity with nothing but a few benches and tables. You go there to get away from all distractions and have a conversation, which is what we want to foster here: a place where you can get away from all the distractions of life to enjoy and discuss live music.
